In Memory

The loss of a single life has the ability to cause devastation within a family. Losing a parent or a child is especially tragic.

On September 11th, 2001, Two thousand nine hundred and ninety six people lost their lives on American soil.

We group these people together and call them ‘The victims of 9/11". They are more than just victims. They were men, women and children. They had lives, they had families, and they have people that still suffer today for the devastation this event has caused for their families.

Edward Phillip York is a man who died for our country. Those who loved, knew or even met him will never forget him as an individual.

Edward grew up in Pittsburgh and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for a number of companies in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Columbus, Corpus Christie and Atlanta before settling in Connecticut with his family.

On September 11th, 2001 Edward Phillip York, a husband to Kimberly and father of three beautiful children, climbed out of bed at his Wilton, Connecticut home and went to work.

Work meant traveling into lower Manhattan to the World Trade Center. Edward was the Vice President and Director of Human Resources for Cantor Fitztgerald. He’d barely been working there for two months.

That fateful morning Edward York and every colleague in his department on the 104th floor who went to work that day were killed after the first plane struck the north tower of the World Trade Center.

Edward is remembered as a wonderful person and a great leader. He had a infectious smile, great personality and an uncanny ability to make others laugh. He had an unconventional way about getting people to work together and really make a difference. He is also remembered as a devoted father and husband. Edward was a man who dedicated every ounce of his heart to his family...a man who was so energetic and full of life. His radiant smile was a comfort to everyone he knew. His spirit warm, and generous....

Edward York touched many lives in the 45 years he lived. Not only did he touch the life of his wife Kimberly and the three children that he created with her, but he also touched the lives of strangers, friends and family.

Wounds that were once deep are now painful scars. Edward's legacy will forever live on in the hearts and souls of those he has touched. His memory will continues to touch the lives of strangers for the unwilling sacrifice he made to his country. For strangers, brothers, sisters, fellow Americans.

To the family of Edward York and to each and every one of the families who lost someone on this tragic day, our hearts are with you....
